Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major health problems in Indonesia and significantly contributes to the incidence of cardiovascular diseases, particularly stroke. Despite its high prevalence, many people still lack awareness of the dangers of hypertension due to its often asymptomatic nature, as well as its association with musculoskeletal complaints such as shoulder pain caused by increased muscle tone and stress. This condition can worsen blood pressure and substantially elevate the risk of stroke.This community service activity was carried out through the Community Movement for Hypertension Awareness program, which aimed to improve public knowledge and skills in preventing hypertension, shoulder pain, and stroke. The methods used in this program included health education, demonstrations of shoulder and neck stretching exercises, and training on how to independently monitor blood pressure.The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of hypertension risk factors, the relationship between hypertension, shoulder pain, and stress, as well as the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. Participants were also able to perform shoulder stretching independently and learned how to regularly monitor their blood pressure. This program had a positive impact on raising public awareness about the prevention of degenerative diseases and serves as a foundation for further educational initiatives and future health research.
