Abstract

Penggunaan smartphone khususnya dikalangan mahasiswa yang tidak terkontrol dapat mengakibatkan kecanduan. Banyak faktor yang diduga berperan dalam mempengaruhi kecanduan smartphone pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan karakteristik dan status psikososial terhadap kecanduan smartphone pada mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian ini bermanfaat secara teortis untuk kajian ilmiah dan secara praktis untuk mengurangi dan melakukan pencegahan kecanduan smartphone pada mahasiswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah survey analitik, dengan pendekatan cross sectinal study. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen baku yang dilakukan secara online. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh, yang berjumlah 2.004 orang. Data dianalisis secara univariat, bivariat (Pearson Chi-Square Test) dan multivariat (Logistic Regression dengan metode Stepwise). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pekerjaan ayah (p-value: 0,016; OR: 0,93) dan self esteem (p-value: 0,0001; OR: 17,4) merupakan prediktor yang paling dominan mempengaruhi kecanduan smartphone pada mahasiswa. Hasil analisis multivariat untuk keseluruhan variabel penelitian diketahui bahwa self esteem merupakan prediktor paling dominan yang mempengaruhi kecanduan smartphone. Self esteem yang rendah berkontribusi sebesar 19 kali terhadap kecanduan smartphone. Diharapkan kepada mahasiswa agar meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan juga kepada orang tua untuk meningkatkan perhatian dan kontrol penggunaan smartphone serta kepada dosen dan pengelola pendidikan untuk membuat aturan penggunaan smartphone di kampus.
