Author Guidelines

Authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Ilmiah Farmasi Simplisia (JIFS) must ensure that their submissions comply with the following requirements.

Originality and Exclusivity
Manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by another journal. Any related publications, preprints, conference papers, or overlapping manuscripts must be disclosed to the editor where applicable.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts must be prepared using the official JIFS article template and submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf). Authors must follow the journal’s requirements for article structure, language, formatting, references, tables, figures, and supplementary materials.
References and Citations
All sources cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all references must be cited in the manuscript. Authors should provide DOI links or URLs whenever available and ensure that references are accurate, relevant, and appropriately up to date.
Authorship and Author Approval
All listed authors must have made a meaningful scholarly contribution to the work, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to its submission to JIFS. Changes to authorship after submission require editorial approval and agreement from the relevant authors.
Research Ethics and Integrity
Research involving human participants, animals, identifiable personal information, or other ethically regulated activities must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements. Ethical approval, approval numbers, and informed consent statements must be provided where applicable. Authors must not engage in plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.
Plagiarism Screening
Submitted manuscripts may be screened using Turnitin or other plagiarism-detection software before peer review. The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%. Similarity reports are assessed by the editorial team in context, as the similarity percentage alone does not determine whether plagiarism has occurred. Particular attention is given to unattributed textual overlap, inappropriate paraphrasing, and other forms of potential plagiarism. Manuscripts exceeding the 20% similarity threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarities. Manuscripts containing substantial unattributed overlap or other evidence of plagiarism may be handled in accordance with the journal’s Publication Ethics policy.
Declarations
Authors must disclose relevant funding sources, conflicts of interest, author contributions, and data availability information where applicable or required by the journal. Any acknowledgments and permissions for reproduced material must also be provided.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Authors must comply with the separate JIFS policy on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in manuscript preparation and research. AI tools must not be listed as authors, and authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and appropriate attribution of all submitted content.
Peer Review and Editorial Assessment
Submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment for scope, completeness, and compliance with the journal’s requirements. Manuscripts considered suitable may be sent for peer review by qualified reviewers. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, and the final publication decision rests with the editor.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors must read and agree to the journal’s Copyright Notice and licensing terms before publication. The applicable copyright and license conditions are described in the journal’s Copyright Notice.
